1946 Ford Wood Gal's Mexican Beauty This 1946 Ford Super Deluxe has an unusual history. It was special-ordered for a Mexican government official and sold May 31, 1947 by a dealership in Mexico for MX$10,943 (pesos). It stayed south of the border for many years and was driven very little. Eventually it was acquired by Sea World in San Diego and was displayed there, inside Dave's Surf Shop, for eight years. Steve and Jeanette Early purchased it from Sea World with the odometer reading just 96,000 kilometers. Miraculously, the original invoice was still in the car.
The woodwork has some unique details not commonly found on Iron Mountain Fords --- note the lip over the running board on the bottom of the front door. Sea World verified that all of the wood is completely original. If any one knows of other Fords with similar woodwork or more on the history of this particular wagon, please contact Steve and Jeanette at twowoodies@socal.rr.com. These days, this cherished old Ford is frequently seen at Southern California woodie meets. By the way, Jeanette, also known as "Wood Gal", is the driving force behind the Woodies Email Discussion List.
